La Savina

La Savina: Formentera’s Gateway to Discovery

La Savina serves as the primary gateway to Formentera, welcoming visitors arriving by ferry from Ibiza or mainland Spain. This lively port is the island's sole harbor, making it a hub of activity where all incoming and outgoing sailings converge. The area offers a range of essential services, including tourist information centers, travel agencies, and real estate offices, ensuring a seamless arrival experience. For those seeking a moment of leisure, La Savina’s bars and restaurants offer the perfect retreat. With stunning views of the turquoise waters, Ibiza, and the iconic rocky silhouette of Es Vedrà, La Savina sets the tone for the idyllic beauty that lies ahead.

The Lagoon

In this port area there is Estany des Peix, a surprising salt lagoon that offers special climatic conditions useful for those who practice sailing or any water sport. A coastal barrier, 3.4 km long, separates this cove from the Mediterranean.

The Salt Flats

To the north-west of La Savina, about 2 km away, there are the ancient salt flats declared a nature reserve in 1995. Ses Salines, name of this protected area, is a very interesting place mainly from the landscape point of view. Here numerous species of migratory birds find refuge.

The Patroness of the Sea

Every year, on 16th July, the great feast of the Virgin of Carmen, patroness of the sea, is celebrated at the port.
